Dragon's head, goretusks and fleshrippers, oh my!

So, after takin' a brief time off for a vacation in lovely Goldshire, I figured I'd best get back ta work. Left the Lion's Pride Inn and discovered that I had mail. Me cousin Berenkor's an engineer, always tinkerin' with things and makin' stuff, and he sent me a spyscope so I could check out stuff what's far an' away. I was testin' it out by peekin' at this ha' naked human girl that was dancing a few yards away from me, when suddenly kazot! I was struck by a lightin' bolt! I put the spyglass away and felt rather sheepish an' all, like I was a schoolboy caught with me hand in the cookie jar, if ya know wha' I mean. Then I noticed a most peculiar thing. I had been blessed with something called the Rallying Cry of the Dragonslayer. That nice Tsarnkoth fellah explained that somebody must have killed the Lady Onyxia, and said that there was prolly a dragon's head hangin' up on the gates o' the city. I decided to check it out for meself, and tromped on back up to the city. Sure enough, hangin' there like a giant, bloody pinata was a dragon's head! Has to have been the strangest thing I've seen yet in my travels in these parts!

In other news, I started mining! Combine that with the skinnin', I figured I'd pick up some useful professions that would let me help out me guild mates by providin' various materials. Oh! I almost forgot! That nice Tsarnkoth fellah what you've heard me mention invited me to join his guild. That was very nice of him. The guild is called Eldritch Way. Their main focus is to give a helping hand to those in need. I found this to be most admirable and worthy goal, so I said "sign me up!" The folks in the guild have all been very warm and welcomin', for which I'm eternally grateful.

It just so happened that I'd pretty much exhausted all the available work in Goldshire and around Elwynn Forest, so, once again, I found meself pickin' up and movin' on. Next stop was Westfall. Plenty of work to be had there, I tell you what! I had no sooner arrived than this Farmer Fulbrow had me on some errand to find a wayward pocket watch of his, and the missus wanted me to deliver a recipe to a lady friend o' hers. Next thing I knew, I was killin' harvest golems - these great mechanical monsters what were wanderin' around the fields. All clanky and smokin'. Got ambushed and killed by a pair of 'em, at one point. Then there were the goretusks, these particularly nasty breed of boars. I had spent the night in the small in near Sentinel Hill, and was so ready to get to it the next day, I charged the first one I saw, not realizin' until it was too late that the mean ol' bugger was 5 levels above me, which meant there was no way in blazes I'd survive an encounter with the likes o' him! And, of course, I didn't. I spent a frustrating afternoon killin' a combination o' goretusks, harvest golems, and fleshrippers - these nasty buzzard critters. All "flappy, flappy, screech, screech." A dwarf can only get killed so many times in one day before it starts to wear on him, so I decided it was time to turn in. By the time I was done, I had a mess o' quests on me plate, and I was level 14, to boot!

Dwarf in the big city

So today I wandered up to Ironforge - hoo boy is that place big! Me pappy used ta tell me stories about it when I was a wee lad, but nothin' could ha' prepared me for just how enormous that place is! And me pappy, bless his soul, would've been proud of me when I walked right up to King Magni and gave him greetings from me clan. Wandered around a bit, got lost in the gnome quarter and wandered down this huge spinnin' tunnel. Turns out it was the Deeprun Tram. The place was full o' rats! I hopped the tram and ended up in Stormwind City. Did a bit of shoppin' and bought meself a gorgeous new claymore. I couldna wait to try it out! That nice fella, Tsarnkoth, sent me two large knapsacks, bless 'im, and boy did they come in handy. I left Stormwind and headed over to Goldshire, where I managed to pick up quite a few odd jobs. Those folks had me runnin' from one end of Elwynn Forest to the other an' back again! Tried me new sword out on some kobolds, and it chopped 'em up right nicely. I stayed busy most of the day, and plumb wore meself out. At the end of the day, I headed back to Stormwind where I took some more Paladin training. I couldna find a satisfactory place to stay in the whole blessed city, so I returned to the Lion's Pride Inn in Goldshire, and bedded down there for the night. After the day's activities, I was just shy of makin' level 13.

A generous gift

I had the best night's sleep in a long time, I tell you, sleepin' at the inn with all those lovely barrels of ale nearby. It was almost comfortin', in a way. When I got up, I had mail waiting for me. Me pal Fenric had sent me some armor kits for augmentin' my equpment, and a fella named Tsarnkoth up and sent me 1g out of the blue! I was so touched by his simple act of kindness, almost brought a tear to me eye. I sent him a nice thank you note, and set about my work for the day. Had an errand to run a keg of lager for the Thunderbrew folks over to the camp at Brewnall Village. I follwed the frozen river west, killin' boars and bears and wolves as I went. This skinnin' knife Schleprock sent me is the best ever, I swear it never needs sharpening! So I delivered the keg and was talkin' to pretty Marleth Barleybrew, and she convinced me to help her play a trick on ol' Thunderbrew. Asked me to slip a keg of her Barleybrew Scalder in amongst the kegs and see if anyone can tell the difference. Hee! That's my kind of woman. I scouted the area a bit more, discovered a place called Gnomergan, which seems to be inhabited by insane, demented gnomes. I stayed well away from that place, I tell you what! Did some huntin' around Iceflow Lake, then went back to Kharanos to switch the kegs. It was no problem at all, I just slipped Jarven Thunderbrew a pint, and when he toddled off up the stairs for more, I did the old switcheroo. Heehee! I almost felt bad puttin' one over on ol' Thunderbrew, but when Marleth batted her pretty eyelashes at me, how could I refuse? After that I ran a delivery up to the fellas at Steelgrill's, and got a nice new axe for me efforts. I tried it out on the wolves, and it works even better than the old one! Finally made level 10 today, now I've got to start thinkin' about what kind of specialization I want to consider, bein' a paladin and all. I think tomorrow I might wander up and take a look around Ironforge, I hear it a wonderous marvel to behold. We'll just see about that.

Movin' on

Day two dawned bright and early. I had spent the night slumped in a chair in the outpost in Coldridge Valley, and was more than ready to get movin' and shake out the aches and pains in me sore bones. Come to find out nobody in Coldridge had any more work for me, so I decided to move on. Took the tunnel through Coldridge Pass to Dun Morogh proper, knocked a few troggs about on the way, and finally made it to Kharanos. I checked in with Innkeeper Belm at the Thunderbrew Distillery and Inn to secure myself a proper room. After the night I'd had, I sure was looking forward to a soft, warm bed to sleep in! I decided to take advantage of the various trainers in Kharanos, and got me some lessons in how to cook and make bandages. I cooked up a batch of roasted boar meat, and stashed those in me pack for snackin on later. Wandered up to Steelgrills Outpost where the fellas there were more 'n glad to see me! They had plenty of work for me to do, and I set to it, killin' boars and bears. Had my first brush with death at the hands of a bear and snow leopard what ganged up on me. I knew I was done for when things went all swimmy and black. Next thing I knew, I came to in the cemetary with me head propped up on a gravestone! I ran back to the scene, quick as a bunny, and, wonder of wonders, there I was, hale and whole again! I made a note to meself to be more wary of those pesky snow leopards in the future. Oh! I got me first glimpse of a few Night Elves, today, as well. Tall, lanky fellas, they are. Got huge floppy ears, too. The gals are awfully purty, but they're a bit too tall for my likin'. Give me a nice, sveldt, dwarven woman any day of the week! Ragnar Thunderbrew gave me a recipe for makin' beer basted boar ribs, along with a sample. Hoo-boy are they tasty! That'll give me some mighty fine incentive to improve me cookin' skills so I can cook up a batch of those meself! After lunch, I checked the post office. Lo and behold, I had mail! Some friends had heard I'd newly arrived, and were kind enough to send me care packages. Cleosims sent me a pair of Runed Copper Pants and Runed Copper Gauntlets. They were just the thing! She's a cute little dwarven lady, lives over in Stormwind. I'll have to look her up (and down) when I manage to get over that way. Heh! Schleprock sent me a number of small pouches, a skinnin' knife, and a bit of silver to help me get by. That was much appreciated! Boy, there's a weird one. He's a gnome, so he's even smaller than I am, and he's completely bald! Gives me the heebies just ta look at 'im! Fantastic little fella he is, though. Always eager to help. The pouches came in mighty handy, as my main pack keeps fillin' up with the flotsom an' jetsom dropped by all the critters. It aint' much, but I tell you what, after awhile the skins and tusks and various other bits really add up to a nice bit o' change when ya sell 'em to a vendor! There's money to be made there. And sometimes these fellas drop something useful, like the nice new shield I managed to pick up today. That was in the windigo cave. Windigos, oh a meaner, nastier, smellier beast you've never seen! They look like yeti with great horns on their heads, and their breath - hoo! not only does it smell bad, it puts the chill right through to yer bones! I killed about 35 of the bastards on my first run through. Then, after I learned how to use the skinnin' knife Schleprock sent, I went back and killed a bunch more just so I could skin 'em! And wouldn't ya know it, just as I was leavin' to head back to town, a bunch of the nasty buggers ganged up on me and killed me! Twice in one day was just too much for the likes of me, so I decided it was time to call it quits. Besides, I'd been thinkin' 'bout that nice warm, soft bed waiting for me at the inn. Imagine, an inn inside a distillery! Now that's usin' the old noggin, if ya ask me! Pure briliance, that is! I had a few pints of their house ale, ate a good, home-cooked meal, took a nice hot bath, and snuggled down into the covers like a bear ready for winter. Oh, and I managed to get meself all the way to level 9, what with all the runnin' around I did. What a day! I think I'm gonna like it here.

Reporting for duty

I started me mornin' off by reportin' to Sten Stoutarm in Coldridge Valley, in south western Dun Morogh. He set me to work killin' wolves, and from there I did a few odd jobs, mostly courier work. They had me deliver the mail, and then bring fresh coffee to one of the folks in the outpost. Oh! I almost forgot, I had no sooner arrived, than this little fella, a gnome by the name of Netinge, asked me for assistance. I was, of course, obliged to help in whatever way I could, but I dunnah think he spoke Dwarven. He kept askin' me to wait, but didna seem to understand that I was a stranger there meself. He ran off at some point, so I was left to my wolf-killin'. Suited me jus fine. Killed a mess o' troggs for Balir Frosthammer. Me pack was so loaded with the odds n' ends of stuff they'd been droppin', I had to so sell it off at the outpost. While I was there, I picked up a new mace, and banged a few more trogg skulls after that, just to make sure it worked ok. It did. I was trying to find some lost tools for Felix Whindlebolt, when I joined up with another pally named Grigne. He and I finished off a mess of trolls while we was runnin' around. I also met up with me pally trainer, an honorable dwarf by the name of Bromos Grummner. Learned Devotion Aura and Blessing of Might. I made it clear ta level 6! After all that runnin' around, however, I was a good bit tired, so I took off early and called it a day.
